General Information
Obadiah Knight Elementary School was built in 1925 and was named after one of Dallas’ early pioneers who donated part of the land where the school presently sits. This area is rich with culture and the school serves a 99 percent Hispanic student population. We take great pride in implementing a dual bilingual program, which the community supports.
The school boasts a high student attendance rate and a very dedicated PTA that supports our efforts. We have built great partnerships with organizations and businesses in our community, such as Love Field, Grauwyler Public Library, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help church and school. The school staff connects with parents to ensure student success. Our staff hosts monthly support workshops for parents on a variety of subjects. Other parent involvement opportunities include assisting in classrooms, coffee with the principal, participating in PTA, and serving on the Campus Improvement Planning committee.
At Obadiah Knight Elementary School, our mission is to reach our highest potential as a “nested learning community” and to challenge students to become productive and responsible leaders. We empower students to learn by providing a rigorous curriculum, promoting collaboration, and allowing students to be stakeholders in their own education.
